ABOUT US

Freedom Preparatory Academy Charter Schools (www.freedomprep.org) is a PK-12 charter school in Memphis, TN. Our mission is to prepare all students in grades PK-12 to excel in college and in life.  Freedom Preparatory Academy opened in August of 2009 with a class of 96 6th graders.  We now serve over 1600 students in grades PreK-12.  In just eight short years, our students have exceeded local and state averages in math and local averages in English language arts on the state exam.

JOB TITLE:                                 School Psychologist 

ACCOUNTABILITY:                     Director of Special Populations

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY

 

Provides school-based psycho-educational services to students and families including psycho-educational evaluation for suspected disabilities under the IDEA, consulting with school staff and families on strategies to improve academic and behavioral functioning of students, and delivering professional development for school staff and/or families on topics including, but not limited to, educational disabilities, behavior management, data analysis, and academic achievement.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Job Responsibility 1: Takes a lead role in identifying individual student needs through psycho-educational assessments.

Job Responsibility 2: Completes psycho-educational reports and assists in developing integrated Eligibility Reports, Individualized Educational Programs and 504 or Support Team plans for students.

Job Responsibility 3: Confers with parents, staff, community agencies, and others on matters related to the academic, social-emotional and behavioral adjustment of students. Job Responsibility 4: Consults with Head of School, teachers, and support personnel relative to specific educational and adjustment concerns, data analysis and interventions. Job Responsibility 5: Counsels with students, parents/guardians and school staff as needed to perform/teach behavioral analysis and interventions.

Job Responsibility 6: Maintains accurate and complete records and prepare logs on children evaluated annually along with daily activities, as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations, including use of Easy IEP, yearly tracking logs, and yearly activity logs.

Job Responsibility 7: Provides teacher in-service, assistance in staff development, school climate development and systemic analysis of programs related to school psychology.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Master’s Degree in School Psychology is required. Graduation from a NCATE and/or NASP approved program is preferred.

 

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

A current Tennessee Professional or Practitioner School Service Personnel certificate with an endorsement in the area of school psychology is required. National Certification in School Psychology is preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Successful completion of practicum and internship experience required; prior experience in an urban educational setting preferred; bilingual candidates are highly desired. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience.

 

START DATE
An exceptional candidate will assume a full time role no later than July 2019. The position will remain open until filled.
